ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the common diseases and the Constitution of Traditional Chinese Medicine of plateau-related soldiers, and explore the correlation between them.Methods:A total of 271 plateau-related soldiers in our sanatorium from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 were selected as the subjects. All of them were assessed by the TCM constitution scale and the self-designed disease questionnaire and Sociodemographic information.Results:Eighty two percent of 271 plateau-related soldiers were regarded as paranoid constitution and 17.7% were gentleness type. There 73.1% of plateau-related soldiers had one or more diseases, and 90.9% of them were paranoid constitution. There were 47 cases of respiratory diseases, including 2 cases of gentleness type (4.3%) and 45 cases of paranoid constitution (95.7%); 53 cases of digestive system diseases, including 1 case of gentleness type (1.9%) and 52 cases of paranoid constitution (98.1%); 27 cases of skin diseases, including 1 case of gentleness type (3.7%) and 26 cases of paranoid constitution (96.3%); 148 cases of musculoskeletal diseases, including 15 cases of gentleness type (10.1%) and 133 cases of paranoid constitution (89.9%). The digestive system diseases with the highest proportion of paranoid constitution were selected for TCM Constitution correlation analysis, suggesting that there was a correlation between them( χ2=11.32, P<0.01). People including Qi deficiency and phlegm-dampness were more prone to digestive system diseases ( P<0.01). There was a significant negative correlation between gentleness type and digestive system diseases [ OR=0.17, 95% CI(0.040-0.726); P=0.017], as well as Qi deficiency [ OR=4.98, 95% CI(2.717-9.120)] and phlegm-dampness [ OR=12.00, 95% CI(5.269-27.332)]were risk factors for them ( P<0.01). Conclusions:The overall health level of plateau-related soldiers was not optimistic. The digestive system diseases of them were positively correlated with Qi deficiency and phlegm-dampness.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To analyze the surveillance results of common diseases among primary and middle school students in Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps in 2020, so as to provide the evidence for formulating the control measures for common diseases among primary and middle school students. @*Methods@#The comprehensive health surveillance data of 31 467 primary and middle school students were collected from 132 schools in 14 divisions of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps in 2020, and the prevalence of poor vision, overweight and obesity, dental caries, malnutrition and elevated blood pressure were descriptively analyzed.@*Results@#The 31 467 students included 15 580 boys ( 49.51% ) and 15 887 girls ( 50.49% ). There were 19 632 students ( 62.39% ) from urban areas and 11 835 ( 37.61% ) from suburban areas, and there were 11 371 primary students ( 36.14% ), 11 169 junior high school students ( 35.49% ) and 8 927 high school students ( 28.37% ). The detection rates of poor vision, overweight and obesity, dental caries, elevated blood pressure, and malnutrition were 57.22%, 29.69%, 27.57%, 15.03%, and 4.81%, respectively. The detection rates of overweight and obesity ( 36.07% vs. 23.45%, P<0.05 ) and malnutrition ( 5.71% vs. 3.93%, P<0.05 ) were significantly higher, while the detection rates of poor vision ( 51.61% vs. 62.72%, P<0.05 ), dental caries ( 24.46% vs. 30.63%, P<0.05 ) and elevated blood pressure ( 14.61% vs. 15.43%, P<0.05 ) were significantly lower in boys than in girls. The detection rates of overweight and obesity ( 30.17% vs. 28.91%, P<0.05 ) and poor vision ( 61.55% vs. 50.04%, P<0.05 ) were significantly higher, while the prevalence rates of malnutrition ( 4.55% vs. 5.24%, P<0.05 ), dental caries ( 24.47% vs. 32.73%, P<0.05 ) and elevated blood pressure (14.66% vs. 15.63%, P<0.05) were significantly lower in students from urban areas than from suburban areas. In addition, the prevalence of malnutrition and poor vision appeared a tendency towards a rise, while the prevalence of overweight and obesity, dental caries and elevated blood pressure appeared a tendency towards a decline among primary and middle school students with the study period (P<0.05 ).@*Conclusions@#The prevalence of poor vision, overweight and obesity, and dental caries is relatively high among primary and middle school students in Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and comorbid overweight and obesity and malnutrition is found.

ABSTRACT

Objective: Securing a sufficient number of medical residents to work in rural areas is an urgent issue. This study sought to clarify the factors that cause medical students at a rural university in Japan to select a particular place for their initial clinical training.Materials and Methods: A questionnaire was administered to all medical students at Saga University between February and March 2021. Participants were divided into two groups based on their training location choice: those who chose Saga Prefecture (Saga group) and those who selected other prefectures (non-Saga group). Then, logistic regression analysis was performed.Results: The questionnaire was answered by 300 students (46.3% response rate), of whom 291 agreed to participate in the study; 122 (41.9%) and 169 (58.1%) students were allocated to the Saga and non-Saga groups. Within the Saga group, the following factors were statistically significant: being admitted to Saga University’s medical school through the system of special allotment of admission to applicants pledging to work in Saga Prefecture following graduation (or regional quota programs for admission) (odds ratio [OR], 19.18; 95% confidence interval [CI], 6.99–52.60); and being from Saga Prefecture (OR, 6.05; 95% CI, 2.24–16.35). With the non-Saga group, the desire to work in an urban area (OR, 0.03; 95% CI, 0.00–0.37) was statistically significant.Conclusion: To encourage medical residents to choose this prefecture for their initial clinical training, the focus should be on medical students who are from Saga Prefecture or admitted through the regional quota program.

ABSTRACT

To evaluate the clinical applicability and application of Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Common Diseases of Gynecology in Traditional Chinese Medicine, 11 diseases from Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Common Diseases of Gynecology in Traditional Chinese Medicine were evaluated by methods of questionnaire and prospective case study at 16 construction units for traditional Chinese medicine standards research and extension. Results showed that 361 clinical doctors accepted the applicability survey of guidelines, and 87.26% of them were more familiar to the guideline and 25.21% of them used the guideline. In syndrome differentiation and treatment related contents, rationality of prescription medication and syndrome classification was higher, accounted for 91.69% and 86.98% respectively, but the rationality of recuperation prevention was lower, accounted for 44.6%. 75.62% clinical doctors believed that the Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Common Diseases of Gynecology in Traditional Chinese Medicine was applicable. The application of the guidelines is evaluated by prospective observation of 2 935 cases. The higher compliance between the guideline and clinical practice was present in TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) disease diagnosis and WM (western medicine) disease diagnosis, accounted for 98.30% and 94.11% respectively. The lower compliance was present in recuperation prevention, accounted for 59.39%. The safety and economy of the guideline was higher, accounting for 95.64%, 94.75%, respectively. The comprehensive evaluation results showed that the rate of the overall treatment effect with technical level, satisfaction degree or applicability in clinical practice which were 7-9 points is 77.38%, 74.00%, 76.90% respectively. This guideline has a high clinical compliance and can be used as a standard for common diseases of gynecology, but there are also some conditions with poor applicability, which does not conform to the actual situation, and needs to be further revised.

Introduction: It is significant to translate medical texts having a beginning source of Ayurveda and identifyMongolian doctors, maaramba’s works and books on prescription as well as treatment methods that meetour culture, living condition and climate. Especially, we should clarify the new ideas includes innovatedtheories, which became paradigm not only Traditional Mongolian Medicine but also in Tibetan Medicine.Thus, it has become important to introduce and use in the training for students and practitioners the “FourAmbrosia Essences” and “Dictionary of Drug Identification” by Sumbe Khamba Ishbaljir (1704-1788).Goal: The aim of this study is to investigate “Four Ambrosia Essences” and “Dictionary of Drug Identificationby Sumbe Khamba Ishbaljir and to clarify the new idea of theory and treatment methods created by him.Materials and Method: “Source of Spring” (བདདུ ་ར་ིྩ ཆ་ུ རནུྱྒ ), “White Dew of Spring” (བདདུ ་ར་ིྩ ཟལི ་དཀར), “Drop of Spring”(བདདུ ་ར་ིྩ ཐགི ་པ), “Wedding of Spring” (བདདུ ་ར་ིྩ དགའ་སནོྟ ” by the Sumbe Khamba Ishbaljir were the main materials in thisstudy. In addition, we used to take some sort of sources and manuscripts that related to our studies andcomparative historical method, analysis and synthesis method were used in the studies.Results: According to resources we found, Sumbe khamba Ishbaljor detailed a number of new theoreticaland practical concepts which were never or seldom mentioned in The Four Medical Tantras, in his bookRashaany Dusal (“Drop of Spring”). He expanded the list of common diseases from three wind (khii), bile(shar), phlegm (badgan) to 6 (wind, bile, phlegm, blood, yellow fluid (shar us), nyan or khorkhoi (virus andbacteria) and prescribed treatments for each of them. In addition, he established a concept of 10 importantdiseases and gave them satiric names making them easy to read and understand as well as taught theways to treat them.Ishbaljir developed the traditional medicine and made a reform in it by the discovery of three more causesof diseases blood, bile us and bacteria in addition to the existing causes wind, bile and phlegm. His theorywas that disease causes are wind, bile, phlegm, blood, yellow fluid, and bacteria or virus individually and\or combined. Wind, bile, phlegm, blood, yellow fluid, and bacteria or virus called as diseases. Ishbaljir’sconcept of bacteria duplicates that of some Noble Prize laureates. At the beginning of the 20 century, anAustralian scholar Barry J. Marshall and J. Robin Warren won the Noble Prize for their discovery of the“Bacterium Helicobacter pylori and its role in gastritis and peptic ulcer disease” in 2005.Conclusions:1. Sumbe Khamba Ishbaljir expanded the list of common diseases from 3 wind (khii), bile (shar), phlegm(badgan) to 6 (wind, bile, phlegm, blood, yellow fluid (shar us), nyan or khorkhoi (virus and bacteria)and prescribed treatments for each of them.2. Sumbe Khamba Ishbaljir established a concept of 10 important diseases and gave them satiric namesmaking them easy to read and understand as well as taught the ways to treat them.3. The Four Medical Tantras did not mention stomach bacteria. It is pity that Sumbe Khamba Ishbaljirfound out the stomach bacteria disease in the 18th century.

In the Commune Thuy Xuan (Hue city), 100 randomly chosen households using medicinal plants were interviewed. Results showed a good knowledge and wise, proper safe and practical use of common medicinal plants such as lemon, citronella, ginger, and some other vegetables for treating usual conditions – fever, cold, diarrhora, cough, etc

ABSTRACT

The study two carried out by collecting the primary diagnosis of all pediatric patients who attended the emergency room at the O.P.D. building, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital in 1984. There were 30203 patients attended. The most common problems was respiratory disease, which covered 64.59% of the patients. The most common of 10 diseases comprised of URI (22.9% of all pediatric patients), pharyngitis (14.9%), tonsillitis (13.1%). Diarrhea (7.2%), pneumonia (6.2%), asthma (4.7%), bronchitis (3.9%), fever of unknown origin (3.2%), allergic rhinitis (2.5%) and acute haemorrhagic fever (1.8%) respectively.
